I just got back into the linux scene recently. I had problems setting up dual monitors with Ubuntu a while back. I recently obtained a desktop system for free and have it configured with a program called synergy. Synergy allows me to share one keyboard and mouse between both systems- my xp laptop and ubuntu desktop pc. It's working pretty well, after initial ip configuration issues with my laptop. I can move my mouse freely across all 3 monitors and copy and paste from the windows side to linux and vice versa. I recently started playing around with the skinning engines on the Ubuntu side. I changed my icons and the gui. I didn't like the default launcher icons with the buuf icon theme, because they looked evil and scary! I switched them to something more nicey nice!
Oh yeah, one more thing...I was able to install a KDE app that allows me to network my external hard drive for file sharing. I am SO proud that I did it all by myself! It was so easy with the KDE Gui tool. The music-techie-creative drives listed there are being shared on the network, so I can drop files from either os. Makes things really easy for me. I like to save everything to my external hard drive these days.
