Voting helps shape your community!I voted yesterday to have my tax dollars help support the local science museum here.Earlier this year, I participated in a petition campaign to put our local government's spending to a vote.

This is a supreme right that many countries do not have -- to have a say in how your country is run. For centuries, people lived as serfs and paid taxes and were killed and jailed without cause. They had no rights to defend themselves and find out why they were imprisoned.

An example of what can happen if a lot of folks decide not to vote is the 2010 mid-term here in the USA. Time will tell how that adventure will turn out!

2012 will be the most important time in our lives and in history to vote in a new president.  You can see already how Americans are suffering by paying extreme gasoline and heating oil prices, yet we are not taking advantage of our own supplies here in and near the USA.  Our healthcare system is being ruined since our president believes we must take care of people who do not want to work for a living.
If things do not change in the next 2 years or so, there will surely be civil unrest in America which is the only thing that can bring about change after we have been led down the wrong path by a president who lied about his birthplace, any formal education and stated he is not a Christian which to me and most Americans is a requirement to be president.

"Now more than ever the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption."
James Garfield, "A Century of Congress" published in Atlantic, July 1877... Read this and other thoughts about the importance of voting at http://www.famguardian.org/Subjects/LawAndGovt/Articles/ImportVoting.htm
This election (2012) may give all voters a chance to decide what may turn out to be the most important election they will see in their lifetime.

It has been some time since this topic has had a new post. While watching the current news I noticed that there has been a lot of activity during this primary race which is directed toward ways to deprive certain classes of voters from voting. It seems that now is the time when every voter should be urged to cast a vote (only 1 vote) rather than trying to skew the election by the current violations of the right to vote act.
In my opinion, this is probably the most important election most of us will ever see in our lifetime. The outcome will determine what sort of people we are (or wish to be) and in just a few days all the low life fringe that is trying to skew the election by depriving others who wish to vote will in fact be casting many, many votes for all practical purposes. You do the math!

All my life I can remember many incidents in the election activity which were said to be the October surprise. Normally someone would come out with a real bomb which was intended to sway the election one way or the other. This election in 2012 seems to have an event in October which will surely effect the outcome.  At the present time nobody knows how hurricane Sandy will steer the final vote totals. However, I am sure that Sandy had quite a impressive surprise for everyone.
I wonder how the results have been changed. I am sure however that it was a surprise!

Does anyone see anything wrong with the GOP scramble this election in their endless attempt to suppress the democratic votes by making it more difficult for voters to actually vote? The Supreme Court of the United States has lately ordered election officials in both Florida and Ohio to stop their actions which were designed to suppress the democratic votes. People will (in the long run) have a greater desire to vote than ever before. However, this election hundreds of federal officials as well as lawyers are setting up shop in the troubled locations to prevent the fraud attempts. I agree with those who suggest that rather than our futile attempts at nation building in the remote corners of the world we would do well to rebuild the structure which exists here at home. It might be a good idea to have a general house cleaning here before we find that we are the next "third world' country.

It looks like the action to limit who could and could not vote did not work very well. I was delighted when I saw voters stay in line as long as 12 hours to cast their votes. Folks are strange that way. If they are told by word or action they won't be allowed to do something it will only cause them to do it or die trying!

Voting now, will be a very important vote. We have had 8 years worth of economic crisis because of a bad vote. Two bad votes for the same person. Unemployment is up, healthcare cost is up, terrorism has reached a new high....
A lot of people need to vote this term. We have two very qualified candidates in the Republican Party, who could help bring the country out of the crumbling misery the current president has pushed it in; We have two very unqualified candidates on the democrat side. Those two candidates would push this country over the precipice, and plunge it into the same corrupt, socialist, anti-people governments that we always used to fight.
America fought its way out from under the boot heel of England, so they could have a right to live freely. We fought until we had that freedom. We made mistakes as well, but we learned from them, and created a unique country, that has been the envy of peoples, because we were unique in our freedoms of speech, guns, religion, property, and right to govern ourselves.
Slowly, some presidents reverse some of those freedoms, or put conditions one them. There has always been a period of space between them however.
Our current president came in with sweet lies, and pulled the rug out from underneath the American people. He has done so much damage in his berth of 8 years, and no one has stood against him. His term is at an end though.
Now is the time to exercise the freedom we fought for. Now is the time to vote.
We don't need another Obama. We need someone like Reagan. Two candidates are available to hold up that ideal. Vote for the freedom to continue to be able to vote.

If you listen to the media now do you like what you hear?

I have been around a long time and have been both uplifted by some of the speeches by Presidents in the past and left scratching my head at the childlike constant bickering which reminds me of angry kids in the schoolyard in the races so far for the top spot in November 2016.
Has everyone lost their mind? Could I direct you to some speeches of the past by adult, wise, and thinking leaders?
