The annual Lyrid Meteor Shower peaks tonight just in time for Earth Day. There are warnings that the extra bright full moon might disrupt vieweing, so NASA will be broadcasting some shooting stars on their website. Don't miss the show!

We live out in the country and we always have great views, weather permitting! I will have to let my kids know so we can check it out! I remember during the last event we saw something like 20 meteors.

Some of my friends and I gathered around April 23rd-24th to make our first attempt to watch the Lyrids meteor shower. Unfortunately we didn't see anything. An online article mentioned certain latitude and longitude, and that the meteor was best viewed at dark patch of sky around 90° away from that location. We should do our homework better for the next meteor shower.

Group watching sounds so interesting. I'm sorry that you couldn't see it, though. I've heard that Lyrids meteor shower is one of the most beautiful natural occurrence, so I'm thinking to watch it someday with my friends. We've missed this year's date so maybe we should prepare for next year. What kind of preparations did you do?

Nothing much, it was our first so we only prepared few reclining chairs. We gathered at a park nearby with only few trees which didn't obstruct our viewing field. We also used phone apps which could detect stars and constellations to help us identify whatever displayed at the sky because we don't know much yet.

I always get excited when I am part of a group with so many people sharing the same experience. The Lyrid meteor shower is awesome and I am disappointed that I missed it this year. I will make sure that I watch it next year.

I guess this must be a lifetime experience especially when gathered with friends. This will ensure that if by any chance you do not get to see the spectacle,
the company alone will a good distraction. I love it when am gathered together with people sharing similar interests.
