What malware detection software do you use and how effective is it? I currently use Malware Bytes, but I am wondering what else is out there that could possibly be better.

For malware, I tend to do a whole system approach and go after the anti-virus and malware component together. I am currently using Webroot SecureAnywhere, but I can also recommend BitDefender. I use PC Magazine and CNET for my sources of recommendations.

CNET is a good source for this. It recommended BitDefender for me, it works well, so I can recommend it as well. There are a lot to choose from so it is hard to narrow down sometimes.

I use Avast as an anti-virus program but it seems to be quite good at detecting malware as well. I run a scan each week and always keep it active. Best of all, it is free although there is a paid version that can do even better.

I use Bitdefender which is the best that I have experienced so far. It is also free and very effective at what it does. Besides Malware Bytes, I also use Spybot for sniffing out any spyware. I keep scheduling all of these programs regularly and keep my computer virus and malware free.

I am definitely going for Bitdefender. Is there a trial or free version or do I have to purchase it online? Malware can be annoying especially when it ends up infecting important files.

There are really good suggestions here. I have been looking for a malware detection software for a while and I think for now I will settle for Bitdefender.
That is how much 'word-of-mouth' can convince people.

I have always been asking myself what causes malware? I think the best solution would be to use an anti-virus and malware protection combined. Bitdefender looks like a good option.
