Personally, I would rather just save up if I have to. I have bought used computers in the past that never lasted long for me. Have you ever bought a used computer with no issues?

I've actually had good experiences going to pawn shops to look for computers. They are generally good computers that people had to give up due to financial difficulty. You just need to shop around, but you can usually find a pretty decent one at a good price.

I’ve never had a problem buying a used laptop in the past. However, you might want to lease a new laptop or buy one from a pawn shop. Refurbished computers are an excellent deal.

I’ve purchased several refurbished computers from a company online. The laptops I chose to buy are normally less than a year old. Currently, I have one laptop I bought that is now four years old.

I’ve never bought a used computer before. I guess if you know your way around computers you could get a good deal for a decent one, but I’m not very knowledgeable about it so I’m not willing to take the risk.

I think it depends on how old the computer is and how much you actually know about fixing them. My dad is really big into computers and fixing them was his career, so for him it is easy to buy a used computer and upgrade or repair it if he needs to.

I am using a used computer at present that I bought from someone on Craigslist and it has performed really well. You can good bargains on sites like eBay where you can also check the reviews given by previous buyers of the same seller.

For used computers, I would shop E-Bay before having to resort to Craigs List. There are no guarantees of not getting ripped off when you buy something online, but E-Bay has taken measures to minimize the risk, whereas CL has not.

I wouldn't trust that everything had been permanently erased from a used computer. An extra 100 dollars or so to buy a new computer is worth it to me. It buys peace of mind that the computer is "clean".

Nothing beats the feeling of being the first owner of a computer or laptop. The fact that someone else has used a computer does not augur well with me.

Having said this, it is still possible to find a used laptop that will give good service but you just have to take your time and not rush.

I agree with you that buying online somewhat minimizes the risk as opposed to directly buying from a willing seller.

I would not say buying a used computer is not safe per se but I think there is need to always factor in the extra cost to be incurred in buying a new computer.

I have owned both a new and used computer. None of the two has ever disappointed though given a choice, I would always purchase a new laptop. If you go for a used one, make sure you have checked it well so that you are not disappointed after a few months.
