Do the northern lights effect radio transmissions? Could someone operate a radio station in the region and the times when the Aurora Borealus is active?

Yes under some comditions and what time of day it is

This is an interesting question and depends where the signals come from and local sun placement.
I ran across some info which might help:

I always thought the northern lights were lovely but a bit spooky. A short answer is yes the presence of northern lights could interfere with radio communications.

Thank you w8eeo. (waiteo? Elmer Fudd?) I am under the impression that the lights are electrical charges so I was just wondering because I hear nothing about it.
